- Repointing/Tuckpointing — Tuckpointing and repointing are two words that are used interchangeably to describe the process of removing old worn down mortar joints (the material between the brick or stone) and filling the voids with fresh mortar mix. The mix is matched in both color and makeup to ensure the strongest, most attractive results, so you can enjoy your chimney system for many more years.
- Brick Replacement — When brick flakes, spalls, or is otherwise damaged, it may need to be replaced. The team here at SirVent STL carefully removes each damaged individual brick and puts a new brick in its place. Like with the mortar mixture used in tuckpointing, it’s important that the brick being added is of the right grade. If it’s not, the replacement could actually weaken the entire structure, rather than strengthening it. But don’t worry — the team here at SirVent STL knows exactly what to use.
